Born in Oklahoma, I am third generation in a family of artists, illustrators, and collectors. My tastes were influenced by my grandfather who painted like a southwestern Norman Rockwell and by my mom who filled the house where I grew up with Picasso prints, Wolf Kahn pastels and artwork by other contemporary masters.
I only got serious about painting in mid-life, getting into juried showed with the Northern Vermont Artist's Association, the Vermont Watercolor Society, and hanging pieces in the Vermont Fine Arts Gallery in Stowe. I mostly work plein air and recently moved to Santa Fe to take advantage of the many sunny days to set up an easel outdoors in northern New Mexico. I'm pleased to be represented currently with the Hillside Gallery near my new home.
Think of this as an online gallery. Make "comments" to the blog the way you might sign a guest book at an opening. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and receiving inquiries about my artwork. And of course I am always happy to make a sale; if you decide you'd like to buy a particular piece, the prices are listed.
Enjoy the show. Gary Kowalski

Gary, Your art keeps getting better and better. Especially like the watercolors. And the ones of St. John make me excited to go back there again.

Very nice. Makes me homesick! Something about the technique captures the tranquility...as opposed to sharp detail. Tom Smith
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed by your artwork, and your beliefs! It's so inspiring to meet educated and spiritual people in our very materialistic ennvironment.I want to read more of your books, and know more about your art.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Your feelings of awe around nature's beauty and wonder is expressed in every painting, and says much about you. They evoke similar emotions in the viewer. I want to visit every place your depict. Thank you,

Gary - I had no idea you were also an artist. If we hadn't already scheduled our 2014 art shows for the sanctuary at C3HUU, I'd ask you if you were interested. I can ask, if you'd be willing to hang some of your paintings (probably 3 or so) in the Commons (we're booked through October, but not after).
ReplyDeleteMarni,
DeleteI didn't bring any of my own artworks down here and haven't had a chance to paint anything yet. I do hope to paint, and what I'd suggest is that before I leave we have a sale of any canvases I produce, to benefit the church as a fundraiser. Perhaps in May or June. Thanks, Gary
